Destination Theminettes! The following pages are dedicated to some of the photographs that were taken on a fabulous Charles Evans Watercolour Holiday at Theminettes in the Lot region of France during the week of 10-17 March 2006. Theminettes is about half a mile south of the N140 between Gramat and Figeac which are equidistant between the Dordogne and Lot rivers however, as a guest on this holiday, finding my way there was not my problem! Guests booked on this holiday only had to make sure that their passports were up to date and be packed, ready and waiting, when Charles arrived to collect each of us in turn. We were then driven, in comfort, to our destination, La Gaouliere, which is a lovely five bedroom barn conversion.
Charles refers to this area as "a paradise for painters". For me it was a "photographers dream". The light is magical because the air is so clean and we were very lucky with the weather; bright crisp cold mornings followed by warm sunny days. The colours of the buildings and landscapes are beautiful and we all had a wonderful holiday spending our days painting and exploring the area. The food was excellent and I am assured that the wine was too. (Imagine going to a renowned wine producing area and not being able to drink any of it!) In the evenings, tired after our busy days and replete after each excellent meal we relaxed around the magic of an enormous log fire. I and all the rest of the guests on this holiday are now eagerly awaiting the announcement of the dates for 2007. When you have seen the photographs I am sure you too will be inspired by the beauty of the area and want to join Charles on future trips to Theminettes. At www.charlesevansart.com you will also be able to find details of all the other holidays, workshops and demonstrations that are available along with project pages and painting materials.
Although most of the photographs are mine there are also some by Jennifer and Peter. Please contact me if you have any queries regarding the photographs at Barbara@photos4u2enjoy.co.uk |
